Glossary

Kinematic Mount:

A type of optical mount capable of six degrees of freedom that are singularly constrained during alignment. It is designed to minimize stress to the optics or optical assemblies it holds.

Edge Thickness (ET):

A calculated value which depends on radii, diameter, and center thickness of a lens. It is thus used as a reference to indicate physical imitations for mounting considerations.

Overview

The E-Series Kinematic Optical Mirrors Mounts are an ideal and cost-effective choice for mounting circular optics in metric or English diameters sizes ranging 12.5mm or 12.7mm to 100mm or 101.6mm. The M6 x 0.25 (101.6 TPI) adjustment screws provide smooth movement when making precise angular adjustments (±3.5°). The adjustment screws can be driven by hand via the adjustment knob or by hex key (2mm key size) through the anodized black, low scatter adjustment knob which may be removed for a more compact form factor. The E-Series Optical Mirror Mounts are ideal for application in R&D, prototyping, and OEM system integration and at an exceptional cost-to-performance ratio.

Compatibility:

The E-Series Kinematic Optical Mirror Mounts feature mounting holes with both a counterbore designed to accommodate M4 or 8-32 mounting hardware, and M6 x 1.0 internal threads for increased mounting versatility and direct compatibility to TECHSPEC® Metric Stainless Steel Mounting Posts and Pedestal Posts as well as all other industry standard mounting styles.

The E-Series Kinematic Optical Mirror Mounts also feature a base optical axis height of 25.4mm, which increases by standard 12.7mm increments with larger mounts, making E-Series mounts directly compatible with industry standard optical mounts and the TECHSPEC® Kinematic Optical Mirror Mounts. TECHSPEC® Metric Stainless Steel Mounting Posts and Pedestal Posts are also designed with 25.4mm height increments, ensuring that system mounting and integration is simple and easy.

The 76.2mm and 101.6mm E-Series Kinematic Optical Mirror Mounts also feature two additional 3mm diameter pin holes, offset 25mm from the mounting holes, that allow for easier and more precise alignment, particularly in OEM applications.

FAQ

What optics are compatible with the E-Series Kinematic Optical Mirror Mounts?

The E-Series Kinematic Optical Mirror Mounts are designed for circular optics of 0.5”, 1”, 2”, 3”, and 4” diameters (metric diameters of 12.5mm, 25mm, 50mm, 75mm, and 100mm are also compatible with slight change in optical centerline height). Clear Edge versions are available for 0.5”, 1”, and 2” diameter versions, which are ideal for beamsplitter mounting as the mount edge design will not clip the beam at higher AOIs; this is also ideal for closely mounting two reflective optics in compact systems. The three-point mounting design is ideal for mounting mirrors and beamsplitters.
