How do I know if angle of incidence (AOI) and deposition effects during coating will be an issue for me when looking at off-the-shelf aspheres?

As a general rule of thumb, smaller lens f/#’s make it more likely that these issues will be a concern. If your application requires aspheric lenses and is sensitive to shifts in spectral performance, contact us to discuss these concerns and receive guidance on specifying the best lenses for your system. Higher total sag, or saggita, heights of aspheres corresponds with more complexity. If the f/# of your lens remains constant, larger diameter lenses will have a greater sag and will therefore take longer to coat and be more susceptible to AOI and deposition effects.
